If you are reading this, you are probably interested in starting a new business or you have already decided to do it. You may have a small or home based business, and you are looking for ways to grow. You may also be expecting a baby soon, or have young children already. So congratulations! You have taken the first step in securing your career and financial future, while forfeiting the majority of your sleep. I promise you that the feeling you get from owning a business that generates enough income to support you and your family, is well worth the work. NOT depending on an employer for income, NOT waiting for someone else to give you a raise because you need more money, NOT asking permission to attend your kid’s school recital, or a daytime ball game, these are some the perks of being your own boss. This may be the reason you want to start a business. The other part of course, is the work. Owning your own business, especially a home based business, takes discipline and will. It may not be the hardest work ( I have worked construction and as a carpenter, and I know what hard work is) but it is difficult work, challenging work. I don’t know who first said, “Nothing in this world that is worth having, comes easy,” but it certainly applies to owning a business and raising children. It especially applies to doing both at the same time.
